Curator's note | This guide recommends that only farm labourers and female domestics should leave home for Canada without definite assurance of employment. Some young women may have been enticed by the pamphlet's claim that Canada's population showed a large preponderance of males over females. It is claimed that many of women undertaking domestic service marry shortly after arrival and soon want their own domestic servants. |
